Clinical Psychologist

Nuwan has completed a Masters degree in clinical psychology, and is an AHPRA registered clinical psychologist. Nuwan has also completed a PhD and has a background in clinical psychology research and has contributed to the development of a number of psychological interventions for serious mental illness.

In addition to working at Fernhills Clinic, he works in a public mental health setting providing assessment and treatment for individuals with mental health disorders.

Nuwan works primarily with adolescent and adult clients presenting with a wide range of psychological issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, complex trauma, social anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, anger and addiction.

He utilises a variety of therapeutic approaches including Intensive Short Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Schema Therapy, according to individual clients’ needs.
