Alex has a completed a Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree and is a registered psychologist with clinical endorsement. He has undertaken research in the areas of depression, headaches, and epilepsy.
Alex has experience and interest in treating depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, alcohol and other drug use disorders, stress associated headaches, general life issues and stress, and dealing with the psychosocial issues of epilepsy.
Alex primarily utilises disorder specific cognitive behavioural interventions, as well as a diverse range of other interventions and skills both as treatments and to build the therapeutic relationship.
Alex is prepared to see clients legally mandated to attend, provided they have some motivation and do not have significant issues with aggression. Alex does not write legal assessment reports for clients or their lawyers. He does not see clients under the age of 16 years. Alex does not see clients who are acutely psychotic. Alex is willing to see clients who have psychotic or bipolar disorders provided the client is also managed by a psychiatrist and adhering to a medication regime.
